The D4D ECE2 is a 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine with a total displacement of 4.76 liters. It has a maximum output of 98 horsepower (73 kW) at 2,200 rpm and a maximum torque of 343 Nm (253 lb-ft) at 1,500 rpm. The engine has a bore of 108 mm and a stroke of 130 mm.

The dry weight of the engine assembly is approximately 810 pounds (368 kg). It is designed to meet European Union Stage II emissions standards and features a high-pressure fuel injection system, as well as an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system and a diesel particulate filter (DPF) to help reduce emissions.
